30th Annual VCS Gala Kicks Off

The energy is high with expectation as Valley Catholic students return to campus! New and familiar faces offer friendly, ear-to-ear smiles as they anticipate their journeys of opportunities, experiences and beautiful memories.

Another exciting part of the beginning of the school year is the annual VCS Gala and auction. This hallmark celebration, hosted by the SSMO Foundation, happens once per year and is our largest school fundraising event. The entire Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon campus community is invited to attend the VCS Gala on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026 at NW Events and Environments in Hillsboro, OR.

The VCS Gala is more than one evening in November. Starting in September, the Sisters and almost everyone involved at Valley Catholic School come together to champion our Gala celebration. Through special events, projects, volunteering, sponsorships, donating auction items, giving and bidding online we all come together for this shared purpose – to support VCS and continue the Sister’s valiant education legacy of Excellence in Everything and Opportunity for Everyone.

Funds raised during the VCS Gala and auction support school budgets, operations, and programs. They also help keep tuition accessible, and provide tuition assistance to those who need it most through the Light-a-Fire paddle raise.

This year’s VCS Gala theme is Celebrate the Journey. It is inspired by the words of 2026 VCHS graduate, Elijah Schaal, who submitted the winning artwork behind this year’s Gala graphics. In his words:

“Personally I really enjoy taking long exposure photos, which ended in the capturing of this photo. The light itself and the path it takes represents the light and direction that Valley has given me. Every day at Valley has a different curve or twist to it, leaving us to find our own paths. The light represents the underlying foundation of the Sisters and teachers who help light our ways.”

As your family settles into school routines and anticipates the many opportunities ahead, we hope you choose to make the VCS Gala a part of this year’s journey.

Here are seven ways you can get involved today:

Register to Attend: Join the celebration! Register today for a fun evening with fellow parents, Sisters, alumni and supporters of VCS.
Volunteer: We have a great event planned and need your help! From procuring auction items to decorating and event weekend help, there are multiple ways to volunteer your time and talents. Rally your friends to sign-up with you, or simply join in to meet other parents in a fun setting.
Sponsor: If you own a business, sponsorship is a wonderful way to support Valley Catholic. Sponsors underwrite the expenses of hosting the Gala, allowing 100% of the proceeds to go directly back to Valley Catholic School. As a sponsor, you will enjoy a VIP table at the Gala and complimentary tickets.
Donate an Auction Item: We have a saying, “Only at Valley.” That is because the VCS Gala offers unique packages and experiences that are only found within our special community. When everyone gets involved, exciting trips, experiences and one-of-a-kind items are created to make an unforgettable “Only at Valley” experience.
Give: Make a cash donation to support Valley Catholic School. A $50 cash donation at registration helps fund the exciting trips offered at the Gala auction.
Register to Bid Online: Get ready to start bidding Nov. 10 – 15! This is your chance to pursue exciting trips, experiences, curated packages and hand-crafted gifts from the comfort of your home.
Light-a-Fire: These donations go straight to tuition assistance. Light-a-Fire donations continue the Sister’s mission of providing a rigorous and faith-filled education for everyone who wishes to receive it, regardless of their financial circumstances.
