The Music Man Takes the Stage This March

The Music Man remains one of the most beloved works in American musical theatre. Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has entertained audiences since 1957, offering a family-friendly story that continues to resonate across generations.

At the center of the story is Harold Hill, a fast-talking traveling salesman who arrives in River City, Iowa, with a plan to swindle the townspeople. Convincing families to purchase instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he promises to organize, Harold hopes to collect the money and slip out of town before anyone discovers he does not know a trombone from a treble clef. His carefully crafted scheme begins to unravel, however, when he meets Marian, the town librarian. Through her sincerity and belief in him, Harold finds himself transformed, choosing honesty and community over deception by the final curtain.

Filled with memorable music, humor, and heartfelt moments, The Music Man celebrates redemption, connection, and the power of believing in something bigger than oneself. It is a story that invites audiences of all ages to laugh, reflect, and enjoy the magic of live theatre together.
