Welcome to VCS, Dr. Judd A. Case
Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Ministries Corporation President, Sr. Adele Marie Altenhofen, is pleased to announce that Dr. Judd A. Case has been selected to serve as the next Valley Catholic School President. An accomplished educator, academic leader and devoted Catholic, Dr. Case will join the Sisters’ campus community on July 30.
Dr. Case comes to Valley Catholic School from Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana, where he served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In this role, he led the university’s largest academic division overseeing faculty, academic programs, strategic initiatives, and actively worked with admissions and capital campaigns.
“We are overjoyed to have Dr. Judd Case join our executive leadership team and lead Valley Catholic School,” said Sister Adele Marie Altenhofen. “Throughout his career, Dr. Case has demonstrated a collaborative leadership style rooted in compassionate service that aligns with the Sisters’ Core Values and our mission for Valley Catholic School.”

Dr. Case brings a valuable understanding of the educational journey and the importance of preserving and supporting a strong connection with families. His unique ability to collaborate with families and faculty while building creative partnerships with the community will expand opportunities for Valley Catholic students, help them unlock their unique gifts and prepare them for a successful future.
“The opportunity to work together to build community and educate is what draws me to this creative and dynamic campus,” said Dr. Judd A. Case, new Valley Catholic School President. “We will work together to build on the Sisters of St. Mary Oregon’s excellent foundation and Catholic identity to provide each student an opportunity for an excellent education, spiritual growth and transformative experiences.”
An advocate for the arts and a musician, Dr. Case can often be found singing and playing guitar. This passion also enabled him to lead the music program at Manchester University and serve as its liaison to the Manchester Symphony Orchestra. His successful leadership of this program and his appreciation for music and the performing arts directly align with one of the Sisters’ longest-running and most distinctive programs, the Valley Catholic Music School. An important factor in his selection to the role of president was his track record of prioritizing both arts and athletics as an essential part of a well-rounded and faith-filled education.

Dr. Case also brings a vibrant Catholic faith to this important leadership position. He is actively involved in parish life and he sees Catholic education as an opportunity to nurture the whole person. His commitment to people and his strong faith are well-suited for the lived faith experience of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon and their sponsored ministries at Valley Catholic School and Maryville.
“I am eager to join the Sisters’ faith-filled campus community and to champion the amazing Catholic school they founded,” said Dr. Case. “I look forward to helping strengthen Valley Catholic programs and to rooting enthusiastically for VC students at concerts, games and productions.”
For Dr. Judd A. Case and his wife, Joanne, this move to the Pacific Northwest is very meaningful. First, they have close family ties here. Second, they are both drawn to the compassionate service that is accomplished here. Joanne is also a musician, has taught pre-K, worked in community development and is a hospice volunteer. They are both excited to become part of the Sisters’ campus community and are looking forward to getting to know the Sisters and our VC students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and campus friends.
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Judd A. Case and his family. We look forward to introducing them to our campus community later this month as Dr. Case begins his work as the next Valley Catholic School President.
