The Precious Blood

It can be easy to ignore the liturgical calendar during the summer. However, July provides us a dazzling highlight – The Precious Blood of Jesus!

In the midst of scorching summer days that can blur together, a tremendous gift stands out – God chose to take on a body pulsing with blood. He spilled His blood. He gave priests the power to transform mere wine into His blood. And He did it all for our sake.

We are nourished again and again by this gift and are fed by it every time we attend Mass. How fitting that we should set aside an entire month to pray about and ponder such a mystery.

Prayer

Pray hands

Lord, it is so easy to take You for granted. Every week at Mass we are fed by Your Body and Your Blood, and it can almost feel routine.

Please help me to never take for granted the astounding Gift You have given us. Your Blood feeds me, sustains me, nourishes me. Thank you, Lord, for the Gift of Your Precious Blood.
