Maryville is jubilant about its transformative renovation
After an ambitious 11-phase construction project, Maryville is absolutely jubilant about the early completion of renovations that elevate the experience of every resident who calls Maryville home.

Maryville has been a place of comfort, care, community and ‘Service with Love’ to residents and their families for more than 60 years. Today, Maryville stands on the other side of a remarkable transformation – one that enhances residents’ rooms, common spaces and critically important areas, such as the laundry facilities and food preparation areas.
“We are overjoyed about the completion of Maryville’s renovation,” says Kathleen Parry, Maryville Administrator. “The upgrades throughout the entire facility affirm our mission of compassionate care and provide our residents with improved comfort and control.”
A Project Rooted in Care and Comfort
Maryville’s renovation was designed with one primary focus – to improve the lives of its residents. During the course of 11 meticulously planned phases, crews from LMC Construction worked diligently to modernize and enrich living spaces while Maryville’s dedicated staff focused on the monumental task of clearing entire wings of the building so crews could complete their work in a way that minimized disruption to residents’ daily lives. The project included upgraded resident rooms, state-of-the-art washroom facilities, and the introduction of individualized climate controls in residents’ rooms – allowing each resident to tailor their environment for maximum comfort.
Liz Alcantara, Maryville Director of Nursing, was deeply involved in the renovation. Liz joined a team of staff members to collaborate with LMC to help navigate residents through the renovation project by moving them to different rooms, helping them settle into different areas of the building and clearing the way for the construction crews to complete each phase efficiently. “I am grateful to have been part of this project. It was my first time working on a large project like this,” said Alcantara. “Our primary goal was to make sure our residents felt loved and cared for through the entire process. Everyone really stepped up and adapted to all the changes. It was a joy to work so closely with our wonderful residents, the amazing crews at LMC and our great team here at Maryville.”
The Maryville staff knew from the start that their responsibilities would be much more than a pack up and move checklist. The logistics involved could make Mt. Everest look like a rolling hill on a sunny day. The staff met regularly to organize the logistics for each move. They had to consider every detail from packing each resident’s belongings, helping them settle into a new room, mapping out residents’ daily transportation, and making sure their families knew where and how they would be relocated for their phase of construction. Additionally, the staff had to make sure essential services such as laundry, meals, dentist and physical therapy appointments, daily activities and Mass were consistently maintained throughout the process for each resident.

“It was challenging, it was exciting, it was even a little scary at times,” said Maribel Garcia, Environmental Services Manager for Maryville. “It took every one of us to pull this off. From phase to phase and through every move and change to the plan, nurses and caregivers kept on caring, laundry and housekeeping kept on cleaning, dietary kept on cooking, activities kept on singing, literally everyone came together to safely, effectively and gracefully care for our residents.”

A Collaborative Effort
The Maryville Team and LMC worked tirelessly to bring the vision for a revitalized Maryville to life. The project, originally slated to be completed in August 2025, was finished nearly three months ahead of schedule, thanks to the focused Maryville staff and the hard work and expertise of LMC.
Brad Emerson, LMC Superintendent, expressed his pride in the team’s efficiency and commitment to the project’s success. “It was truly a pleasure to work with everyone at Maryville. From the very beginning, we knew this was more than just another construction job. We were building something that mattered deeply to so many people,” said Emerson. “We had a great team. No challenge was too big and everyone was committed to the success of this project for the residents. I am pretty sure we all found some joy and a little bit of fun working together, too.” Emerson continued by stating that he will miss the daily interaction with Maryville’s staff and residents. He has been able to tell from the start that this is a special place where people do amazing things.

A Testament to Resilience and Adaptability
Undertaking a large-scale renovation while continuing to serve residents requires immense coordination, patience, and adaptability. Throughout the process, Maryville’s staff worked closely with residents and families to ensure a smooth transition through each phase. Their dedication ensured that disruptions were minimized and that residents continued to receive the same level of compassionate care they always had.
Residents and their family members have shown delight in their new home. Rene, a Maryville resident, commented that, “the renovated room is very nice, it even feels like a whole new place.” As you can imagine, residents particularly love the adjustable thermostats in each room, noting that before, they would need to ask someone for an extra blanket or help if they were too cold or too warm. Now, residents and their families have the ability to set their room temp exactly the way they like it. It may sound like a simple concept, but it makes a big difference toward helping a resident feel at home.

All of the upgrades are helping residents and their families and guests more comfortable and happy. Each resident’s new furnishings, thermostat and spacious armoire are important upgrades to make this care facility feel like home and to give nurses and caregivers the support they need to continue to provide their consistent ‘Service with Love.’
Kathleen Parry emphasized the resilience of both residents and staff throughout the renovation. “It’s incredible to witness how everyone came together to make this project a success. Our residents showed so much patience and understanding, and our staff worked tirelessly to keep daily life as normal and comfortable as possible. Now that the renovations are complete, we can all take a moment to celebrate and appreciate the improvements that will serve our residents for years to come.”
Looking Toward the Future
The completion of this project marks not just the end of construction, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Maryville. With refreshed spaces and thoughtful enhancements, the facility is better equipped to provide an environment of comfort, dignity, and personalized care.
As Maryville looks ahead, ‘Service with Love’ remains at the heart of everything it does. The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, Maryville’s administrators, nurses, caregivers, staff and the Board of Directors are jubilant about offering this beautiful and innovative facility to the local community. It truly is a home renewed for its current residents and their families and a facility that is ready to serve the generations to come.To learn more about Maryville’s transformation and the ongoing commitment to its residents, visit ssmo.org/maryville or scan the QR code to see this article online.
