A letter from Valley Catholic Elementary School Principal Dr. Yvonne Ayesiga

Dear VCES Families,
We had a busy and productive October in the Elementary School. Students continue to engage in various activities that positively challenge, empower and stimulate their learning and overall development.
Here are some of the VCES highlights from the month of October:
All Campus Blue Mass
On Oct. 3, our students joined the rest of the students on campus for the annual Blue Mass. At the end of Mass, our students sang our school year theme song as a tribute to the first responders.
Rosary Prayer Service
Our third grade students, with the guidance of their teachers, led the rest of the elementary school in our annual rosary service on Oct. 8. It is heartwarming to see our students stand up in front of their colleagues to lead. We are thankful for the families who are able to join us for our prayer services and Masses.
Jog-a-thon
On Oct. 9, we held our annual jog-a-thon event. We were blessed with good weather and great student participation. A special thanks to the Valor jog-a-thon parent organizing committee and all the volunteers who helped make this a special day for the students. Here is a link to some of the jog-a-thon photos. Approximately $30,000 was raised during this year’s jog-a-thon. This money will go towards student enrichment opportunities such as field trips, art lit, and school supplies.
Halloween pumpkin Contest
It was wonderful seeing the students bring in their beautifully crafted and designed pumpkins for the pumpkin decorating contest. We had 105 entries this year, and they were all very creative and fun! The judges had a hard time narrowing down their choices to identify winners. We are so proud of everyone who participated this year.
Funny – Kirana (2S) and Teo (3C)
TV/Movie Character – Sophie (2Storm) and Rex (3S)
Animals – Carter (3S) and Gwen (5W)

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
We welcomed our students’ grandparents and special friends on Monday, Oct. 27. We began in the Valiants Gym with a prayer service and grade level presentations. After the prayer service, guests walked over to the Elementary/Middle School building where they joined the students, enjoyed some refreshments, and toured the school. Here are some photos from the day.
Open House
We hosted our annual Admissions Open House on Sunday, Nov. 2. Prospective families had the opportunity to tour our school and visit classrooms. Families also heard about our school, learned what sets us apart and how Valley Catholic Elementary School can provide an opportunity for interactive, engaging, supportive, and faith-filled education for students.
We are looking forward to a wonderful November and looking ahead to the parent-teacher conferences at the end of November.
Thank you for your continued partnership in the education of our students.
Valiantly,
Dr. Ayesiga
