A letter from Valley Catholic Elementary School Principal Dr. Yvonne Ayesiga

Dear VCES Families,
It has been a busy and productive month of November in the Elementary School and a great start to December.
Here are some of the VCES highlights from November and December:
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our teachers met with several parents to discuss their children’s areas of strength and where we will work with them to grow this next quarter and the remainder of the school year. Conferences were held both in-person and virtually on Monday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Nov. 25. Please do follow-up with your child’s teacher if more information is needed.
Jog-A-Thon Update
We raised a total of $33,784 to be used toward student enrichment such as field trips, art literacy, and PE swimming.
We are deeply thankful to our students and families for a job well done. A special thank you to the Valor parent volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure a successful jog-a-thon and fundraiser.

Advent Service project
This Advent season, Valley Catholic Elementary School is embracing the theme of hope and bringing it to life. Childhood cancer is a heartbreaking reality, and children facing this disease need a reason to hope that better medical treatments can restore them back to health. During the season of hope, our students will come together to raise funds for childhood cancer research, reflecting God’s promise to care for the sick and His call for us to share that hope with others.
This year, the Valley Catholic Elementary School Community is excited to come alongside our students who have battled childhood cancer. To help spread awareness about childhood cancer, our school is participating in a read-a-thon this November and December, and we invite you to join us in support. During the read-a-thon, students will be setting goals and tracking their progress while raising funds to benefit the Sam Day Foundation. This Portland-based foundation is on a mission to advance research in childhood cancer and ignite hope for kids with cancer.
In a spirit of compassion and generosity, VCES invites you to join us in helping to change the future of childhood cancer. This Read-a-thon will end on Dec. 19.
Please visit our Valley Catholic Elementary School Read-a-Thon website for more information and to support this worthy cause.
