A letter from Valley Catholic High School Principal Dr. Sara Bruins

Dear VCHS Families,
The Fine and Performing Arts program at Valley Catholic High School is truly thriving, and this spring has been a beautiful testament to the creativity and dedication of our students. Most recently, our Drama Department brought the beloved musical “The Music Man” to life in a joyful, high-energy production that showcased the incredible talent of more than 50 students. From the humor and heart of Harold Hill’s transformation to the stirring ensemble numbers that filled the theater, our students demonstrated not only artistic skill, but collaboration, commitment, and courage. It was a celebration of storytelling, music, and community that reminded us why the arts matter so deeply. Be sure to get your tickets to the final shows of this great production.
In addition to our spring musical, we are planning for the annual VCHS Art Show highlighting the impressive work of students across all levels of our Fine Arts program. Families and community members will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of mediums and styles, each piece reflecting thoughtful craftsmanship and personal expression. Our Band, Orchestra, and Choir programs also continue to shine — both in school performances and in local competitions. They are consistently representing Valley Catholic with excellence and pride.
Art is an essential part of the human experience, and arts education is a critical component of a strong high school curriculum. Research consistently shows that students who participate in the arts develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, self-confidence, collaboration, and resilience. These are both artistic skills and life skills that prepare our students to lead and serve in meaningful ways.
We are deeply grateful for the Sisters’ long-standing and foundational belief in the arts and for their continued support of these programs. Their mission and vision, which began 140 years ago, have ensured that creativity and expression remain central to a Valley Catholic High School education. We are also blessed with extraordinarily talented and dedicated teachers in our Fine and Performing Arts Departments who pour their expertise, passion, and mentorship into our students each day.
Finally, we extend heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors — especially the Sanctuary for Sacred Arts — whose support makes many of these opportunities possible. The investment directly benefits our students. It empowers them to create, perform, and experience the transformative power of the arts.
The arts are alive at Valley Catholic. We are so proud of the students who bring them to life.
Valiantly,
Dr. Sara Bruins
