Dear VCHS Families,

Happy New Year! January invites us to pause, reflect, and step forward with renewed hope, intention, and gratitude. The start of a new year often brings resolutions. These are precious opportunities to grow, to begin again, and to become our best selves. At Valley Catholic High School, this spirit aligns deeply with our mission to live with faith and integrity. We are here to form young people into adults who strive for excellence while honoring the unique gifts God has entrusted to them.

January represents the conclusion of the first semester. Students are focused and determined as they prepare for final exams, demonstrating perseverance, responsibility, and pride in their work. It is always inspiring to see their dedication during this time. They are supported by teachers who challenge and encourage them every step of the way.

We also look ahead with excitement. For our seniors, who will graduate in 2026, this semester represents a turning point. With graduation on the horizon, the months ahead will be filled with reflection, leadership, and meaningful moments that celebrate their growth and accomplishments as Valiants.

January also brings one of our favorite traditions: Catholic Schools Week. This joyful celebration highlights the gift of Catholic education and the vibrant spirit of our Valley Catholic High School community. We celebrate this week with gratitude and joy. We recognize the dedication and vocation of our teachers and staff, gathering as a community for Mass, and highlighting the faith-filled learning that takes place in our classrooms each day. Catholic Schools Week offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our shared mission and to give thanks for the people who make Valley Catholic High School a place where students are known, challenged, and supported in becoming their best selves.

We are especially grateful for the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon on whose shoulders we stand. They responded to the call to educate young people in this area more than 120 years ago and their charism, mission, vision and values continue to inspire us every day.

As we begin 2026 together, may this New Year be filled with renewed hope, strong relationships, and continued joy in learning and service. Thank you for being part of Valley Catholic High School. We are grateful for each of you and look forward to all that this semester will bring.

With gratitude and hope for the year ahead,

Valiantly,

Dr. Sara Bruins
