The Valley Catholic Boys Track and Field Team made school history by earning their first-ever, 1st place trophy at the OSAA Track and Field State Championships at historic Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus on May 18. Their victory was solidified with a record breaking time of 3:23.49 in the finale of the state’s 3A meet – the boys 4×400 meter relay.
Andrew Klopcic made history at the championships. The junior secured a triple crown by taking first place in the long jump, triple jump, and 400-meter dash. Klopcic’s dedication, hard work, and sheer talent contributed 30 points to Valley Catholic’s first-place finish, helping the team achieve a total of 74 points overall.

Morgan Amano earned second place honors in the boys’ 1500m run and finished fifth in the boys 800m run.
Senior Riley Reinikka finished in second place in the boys’ 100-meter dash and sixth place in the boys’ 200-meter dash.
Sophomore Elijah Schaal finished fourth in the boys high jump event and third in the boys triple jump.
The Valley Catholic girls also excelled at the state meet, securing fifth place out of 33 teams with a total of 39 points—just one point shy of fourth place.
Jaya Simmons took first place honors in the girls 3000-meter run with a time of 10:05.29. She also earned third place in the girls 1500-meter run with a time of 4:49.08. Her sister, Sierra Simmons, earned sixth place in the girls 1500-meter run and third place in the girls 3000-meter run. Senior Kelly Nerenberg came in fifth place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:56.16.
In the girls 800 meter run, sophomore Isabelle Wiebe earned fourth place honors and senior Kelly Nerenberg finished sixth.
Junior Karan Weiby finished 16th in the girls triple jump event.
Junior Gabrielle Taylor finished 7th in the girls javelin throw event.
