A letter from Valley Catholic Early Learning School Principal Amber Ploussard
Dear VCELS Families,
As we begin the month of February, I would like to share some of the exciting things that are taking place at Valley Catholic Early Learning School. We started the month celebrating Catholic Schools Week with daily themes to celebrate our community, vocations, and nation. We honored the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon by having our preschool children make special gifts as a thank you to the Sisters for all they do for us. We also celebrated our campus leaders and our security officers by making gifts and singing songs! The week ended by celebrating our fabulous faculty and staff.
This month our toddler classrooms also made a special visit to Maryville to spend time with the residents and do some fun activities with them. Each month our preschool students attend music readiness classes in partnership with the Valley Catholic Music School; they are learning all about rhythms and getting to explore a variety of musical instruments.
During the upcoming weeks, our teachers will continue to prepare age-appropriate lessons for our children. Our focus remains on encouraging our infants and toddlers to learn and grow through exploration and sensorial activities. The preschool children continue to use the Creative Curriculum and Heggerty Phonics as they focus on mastery of letters, numbers, and shapes as well as the Second Step curriculum to work on social/emotional skills. Our teachers also continue to find fun ways for our littlest Valiants to work on fine and gross motor skills even in the cold weather.
On behalf of the Early Learning staff we wish you a wonderful February. We pray that God continues to bless us all with His love, grace, and good health.
