The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon join with Americans of all cultures, histories, languages and colors in acknowledging the evil of slavery.

We celebrate the diversity and talents of everyone in our nation.

On Juneteenth, we ask God our Father to help us grow in our respect for the value and dignity of each person God created. We also ask to grow in our special appreciation for the significance of the culture and contributions of African Americans.

We ask the Holy Spirit for the fortitude to continue in our resolve to encounter all people with the compassion of Jesus as we proclaim the Good News of God’s love for all of His people.

Have a blessed and wonderful Juneteenth.
