Gina Portillo
Science Teacher
Science | Gina Portillo joined Valley Catholic’s faculty in 2013 and teaches advanced chemistry, AP chemistry, and an awesome AP physics II class, as well as coaches our science bowl team. Gina grew up in Modesto, California and graduated from Beyer High school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Portland (UP) and a master’s in education, also from UP. Since graduating in 2011, Gina has taught almost all sciences—chemistry, advanced chemistry, general chemistry, physics, biology, advanced biology, and physical science—at five local high schools and tutored college chemistry and organic chemistry. She was awarded the Murdock Partners in Science grant in 2014, 2015 and 2016 to bring industry level research into our classrooms.
