Pope Leo XIV Calls for a Day of Prayer and Fasting on the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace
In response to Pope Leo XIV’s appeal, The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon invite their entire campus community to join them in praying for peace with the Holy Father, Catholics and other faithful people worldwide.
Pope Leo XIV has called on believers worldwide to observe this Friday, Aug. 22, the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace, as a special day of prayer and fasting for peace in the Holy Land, Ukraine and other regions of the world that are “wounded by wars.” We especially ask for Mary’s intercession under her title: Mary, Queen of Peace.
While our world continues to be wounded by wars in the Holy Land, in Ukraine, and in many other regions of the world,
I ask all the faithful to spend the day of August 22 in fasting and prayer, begging the Lord to grant us peace and justice and to wipe away the tears of those who suffer because of ongoing armed conflicts.
May Mary, Queen of Peace, intercede so that peoples may find the way to peace.
