Thank you for supporting the ‘Hands on’ for the Poor gloves and mittens drive. Together, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon campus community collected more than 500 pairs of gloves, mittens to donate to local community organizations.
The drive was organized by the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Social Justice Committee in observance of World Day of the Poor on Sunday, Nov. 16.
All of the donated items were part of the offertory presentation during the World Day of the Poor Mass on Sunday, Nov. 16 at the SSMO Motherhouse chapel.
World Day of the Poor was established by Pope Francis as a Roman Catholic observance in 2016. Pope Leo XIV declared the theme for the 2025 observance to be “You are my Hope” – the message and theme encourages Christians to see people who are poor as central figures of the Gospel and to work for justice and structural change.
