Bret Cope

Before joining SSMO, Bret served in many executive roles. Most recently as COO of a large non-profit continuum of care senior living community, and as a Vice President for a North American chain of 55+ retirement communities. He founded two companies; one a SaaS technology company, the other, a national brand marketing consultancy. He served as the Director of Global Retail Development for NIKE and as VP of Development for a nationwide chain of large format multimedia stores. Over the years, Bret has developed several million square feet of commercial and residential properties globally.

Bret holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Denver. He spent more than ten years serving on several SSMO Boards before accepting the COO position. He served as Chair of the Maryville Board, Vice Chair of the Ministries Board and sat on the Strategic Investment Committee and Long-term Capital Committees. For nearly twelve years, Bret also served as the Chairman of the Touchmark Foundation.

Bret and his wife, Martha have five adult children and six grandchildren. Over the years, the family (mostly Martha) has raised many Guide Dogs for the Blind and currently have two Dove Lewis Therapy dogs. Bret has been involved as a coach for youth sports for more than 20 years, and he enjoys the outdoors.
