Letter from the Superior General
Superior General Sister Michael Francine
Welcome to June – a month that is packed full of Holy Days and special celebrations. The month starts with Ascension Sunday on June 1. On this special day we commemorate Jesus ascending into heaven to enter into full and final glory at the right hand of the Father. From His seat in heaven, Jesus intercedes for us and exercises His power over the whole universe. The following Sunday, June 8, is Pentecost. Pentecost recognizes the great event of the coming of the Holy Spirit 50 days after Easter.
The latest issue of Spirit magazine is now available online and celebrates the Jubilee year across the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon campus. This edition highlights milestone moments including the 30th anniversary of Valley Catholic High School’s first co-ed graduating class, the legacy of the Charisma Dance Team coaches, and a tribute to this year’s Jubilarians—eight Sisters whose lives reflect more than 500 years of service.

Yet he seems to be more of a ‘citizen of the world’ than any pontiff before him.
The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon were blessed to have Archbishop Vlazny living on the SSMO campus for the later part of his wonderful life. We will always remember his kindness, gentleness, warmth and signature laugh which delighted so many people here on campus. The entire SSMO campus community is in prayer for our Archbishop.
