Letter from the Superior General
Superior General Sister Michael Francine
Dear Friends and Families,
The month of May invites us into a quieter, more attentive space of the heart - a space that is shaped by our devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. In the Catholic tradition, May has a long history of being a time to honor Mary, not only with prayers and hymns, but with a renewed desire to imitate her faith. For the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, this devotion is woven into the very fabric of our life.
Sister Adele Marie Altenhofen (UP class of ’81, MA ‘87) received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Service from her alma mater, the University of Portland.
Sister Alison Green, SSMO, recently joined Mater Dei Radio to share her vocation story and reflect on the moment that shaped her discernment journey. In the conversation, she speaks about discovering a deep sense of peace in embracing who God created her to be and how that realization guided her toward religious life with the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. Her story offers an honest and thoughtful look at faith, identity, and the experience of listening for God’s call.
The full interview is available through Mater Dei Radio’s Advent Resources webpage. Readers will need to scroll down to the "Sr. Alison Green: I Have Found My Place" interview to listen. Please note that the Mater Dei Radio app may need to be downloaded to access the episode.
