Honoring 140 Years During Heritage Month
Throughout March, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon celebrated their 140th anniversary with a series of Heritage Month gatherings across campus.
The SSMO Heritage Day Mass brought our school community together in prayer, giving us time to reflect on the faith and values that have guided the Sisters since 1886. Second-grade students also spent time in the Motherhouse chapel, where they shared their own retelling of the SSMO story and connected with the Sisters’ history in a way that felt real and memorable. The younger students from Valley Catholic Early Learning School welcomed the Sisters for a tea party, pouring tea, sharing stories and laughing together.
Together, these moments highlighted the continued presence of the Sisters’ mission on campus and the ways it is carried forward each day through the entire campus community.
Second-grade students at Valley Catholic Elementary School stepped into a meaningful role on March 18, leading a Heritage Prayer Service that honored the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon...

St. Juan Diego Catholic Church will host a free E-Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and offers a responsible way to recycle old electronics, including computers, phones and other devices, in recognition of Earth Day and the call to care for our common home in Laudato Si’.
Last year’s event brought together 126 vehicles and resulted in more than 8,300 pounds of electronic waste collected, along with additional efforts to divert shoes, socks and food donations from waste streams. Organizers hope to build on that momentum this year.
